Well it's 2 a.m. at the bar again

I bet your wonderin' where i've been

I met this girl up on the avenue

And she just reeled me in

She took all my time, and my money

And she left me yesterday

So you'll excuse me, but i've got an awful lot to do

You see, i'm drinking my blues away

She never said she loved me

She sort of took what she could find

But she did some things i never even heard of

She almost knocked me blind

Now don't worry, i'm not crazy

I knew it had to end some day

I'm an upright, respected individual

So i'll be drinking my blues away

Now i believe that she is

Gone for good

Her note said that she hoped i understood

' cause fun is fun, but even good times end

And a lady knows that cash can be her only friend

So the guitars can start their laughing

And that old harp can take it home

I'm gonna drink to everybody's health

Until i ruin my own

So bartender, pour me a double

I've found a place where i can stay

You see, i've thought it out, and planned it all very carefully

And i'm drinking my blues away

Now don't expect me to weep and moan

And sit there waiting by the telephone

I know she's never gonna make that call

Besides i tore it right off the wall
