The Klaxons came out of London in the mid-2000s with a sound that mixed indie rock, electropop, and punk. Their debut album 'Myths of the Near Future' arrived in 2007, and the single 'Golden Skans' became their calling card, a bright, melodic track that caught on quickly.
They followed up with 'Surfing the Void' in 2010, which leaned into more experimental and psychedelic territory. The band's lineup has stayed steady with Jamie Reynolds on vocals and guitar, James Righton on keyboards, Steffan Halperin on bass, and Simon Taylor on drums.
Songs like 'Echoes,' 'Gravity's Rainbow,' and 'Atlantis To Interzone' show their range, from driving dance-punk to more atmospheric moments. They haven't released much in recent years, but those early records still turn up on playlists and in clubs, especially 'Golden Skans,' which hasn't lost its bounce.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
