The Korgis formed in 1979 around James Warren, who had been in Stackridge. Warren played keyboards and sang, with Stuart Gordon on bass, John Baker on drums, and Andy Davis on guitar. They took their name from the Korg synthesizer Warren used.

Their second single, "Don't Look Back," became a hit in several countries. The band put out three albums in quick succession: "The Korgis" in 1979, "Dumb Waiters" in 1980, and "Sticky George" in 1981. "Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime" is another of their well-known songs.

After a long break, Warren and Gordon revived the group in the late 1990s. They released another album called "Drawing Board" in 2006 and played shows until Warren's death in 2014.
