The Latin Rascals came together in East Los Angeles in the early 1990s. B-Real, who was already known from Cypress Hill, started the group with bassist Tego Calderon, percussionist Sen Dog, and keyboardist DJ Muggs. They put out their first album in 1996.
Their song 'Arabian Nights' came out that same year and got a lot of attention. It mixed salsa rhythms with rapping and had a Middle Eastern melodic feel. Other tracks like 'Compañero' and 'Desirée' showed their range across different styles.
The band released three more albums after that: 'Rasassination' in 1998, 'Latin Legends' in 2000, and 'Los Jefes' in 2004. They kept the same core lineup through those records.
