The Leo Project started in Santa Cruz, California around 2015, led by singer-songwriter Leo Bridgewater. Bridgewater had been a theology student before turning to music, and early on he was playing local open mics with just a guitar. The band's 2018 debut EP was called 'The Lion's Den.'
In 2019 they put out 'Better Days,' a single that found an audience on streaming platforms. That song and another called 'Facedown' are among their most recognizable tracks. They followed with a 2020 album titled 'Resilience.'
Bridgewater's writing tends to lean toward themes of hope and getting through difficult times, delivered with a soulful vocal style. The music has a straightforward, earnest quality that connects without much studio polish.
