The Long Winters formed in Seattle around 1999, with John Roderick and Sean Nelson at the center. Roderick had been in Western State Hurricanes, and Nelson came from Harvey Danger. Their first album, 'The Conservatory,' came out in 2002 and included the song 'Hindsight.'
They put out a few more records after that, like 'When I Pretend to Fall' in 2003 and 'Putting the Days to Bed' in 2006. Other songs people know include '(It's a) Departure' and 'Blue Diamonds.' The band's activity has been intermittent, with a quiet period from about 2009 to 2014 before another album in 2015.
