Archive material and source history
The Lords of Metal formed in São Paulo, Brazil, playing heavy metal when the genre was still largely dismissed in their country. Their debut album 'Lords of Metal' came out in 1986, featuring the track 'Compromisso as 6' that would become one of their most recognized songs.
They followed with several albums through the late 80s and early 90s, including 'Kingdom of Shadows' in 1989 and 'The Holy Empire' in 1991. The band's lineup included Gus Monsanto on vocals, Rafael Bittencourt on lead guitar, Fabio Jablonski on rhythm guitar, Gustavo Marcondes on bass, and João Luiz on drums.
After a gap, they returned with 'Damned to Death' in 2004. Their music stayed rooted in heavy metal while occasionally incorporating other elements, like the classical touches on 1993's 'Metalmorphosis'.
