The Love Affair formed in London in 1966, originally calling themselves the Soul Survivors. Their lineup included Steve Ellis on vocals, Mick Jackson on guitar, Robin Thompson on organ, Peter Bardens on keyboards, and Maurice Bacon on drums. Ellis's voice became the most recognizable element of their sound.
In 1967, they released "Everlasting Love," which became a major hit in the UK and elsewhere. The song was written by Ellis and Bardens. Other tracks from that period include "Rainbow Valley," "60 Minutes (Of Your Love)," and "A Day Without Love."
By 1968, Bardens and Thompson had left the group, and there were subsequent lineup changes. The band's activity tapered off after that, though songs like "Everlasting Love" have remained familiar.
