The Love Language formed in Nashville in 2010 around songwriter and vocalist Brittany Howard. Their debut album 'Who You Are' came out in 2014, mixing soul, indie rock, and folk. The band's early lineup included guitarist Cory Wong, bassist Ethan Tisdale, and drummer Chris Coleman.
Wong and Tisdale left in 2017, replaced by guitarist Finn Ronsdorf and bassist Sean Lane. In 2020, Howard faced plagiarism accusations regarding the song 'Calm Down,' which she denied. The band has also released tracks like 'Anthophobia' and 'Blue Angel.'
