The Mindbenders were a British band that formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1963. Their original lineup included Wayne Fontana on vocals, Eric Stewart on guitar, Dave Gregory on bass, and Bobby Thompson on drums. They signed to Fontana Records and had early success with their 1964 single "Game Of Love," which reached number one in the UK.

After Fontana left in 1965, the band continued as The Mindbenders with Eric Stewart taking on more vocal duties. Their sound shifted toward psychedelic rock, and in 1966 they recorded "Ashes To Ashes," a track that became their most recognized work. They also released "Groovy Kind Of Love" and "It's Getting Harder All The Time" around this period.

The band recorded through the late 1960s, but their commercial momentum slowed as the decade ended. Eric Stewart departed in 1970 and later helped form 10cc. The Mindbenders' recordings, particularly "Ashes To Ashes," have maintained a presence in collections of 1960s British rock.
