Background notes

Archive material and source history

The Naked Brothers Band was formed in 2004 by brothers Nat and Alex Wolff from New York City, along with friends Cooper Pillot on keyboards, Thomas Batuello on drums, and David Levi on bass. They weren't really a band in the traditional sense so much as the musical centerpiece of a Nickelodeon show that followed their fictionalized lives. The show blended scripted comedy with musical performances, which gave songs like 'If That's Not Love' and 'I Don't Wanna Go To School' a built-in audience.

They released three albums between 2007 and 2008, including a self-titled debut and 'I Don't Want to Go To School'. Their music was straightforward pop-rock aimed at the show's young viewers, with Nat Wolff handling most of the lead vocals. The project was always more about the television concept than building a lasting musical career, which explains its relatively brief, contained run.

After the show ended, the Wolff brothers moved on to other acting and music projects. The Naked Brothers Band remains a specific artifact of mid-2000s children's television, remembered more for the show than for a standalone musical catalog.
