The Oozes formed in San Francisco in 2012 with Ezra Furman on vocals and guitar, Sam Durkes on bass and keyboards, and Ben Joseph on drums. Their debut album 'Get Up' came out the following year, followed by records like 'A Brief History of Time' in 2014 and 'The Shape of Things' in 2016.
Their songs like 'Blah Blah Blah' and 'Bitchboy' often feature discordant harmonies and unconventional rhythms. Furman writes lyrics that touch on alienation and self-discovery, while Durkes and Joseph contribute experimental textures and unpredictable beats.
Some critics have dismissed their abrasive live performances as noise, but the trio has kept working without changing their lineup. They released another album called 'Bleh Blah Blah' in 2019.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
