The Originals formed in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1960s with Zé Rodrix, Ney Matogrosso, Ronaldo Bôscoli, and Liminha. Their 1970 debut album included 'Menina Linda,' which became an immediate hit with its blend of samba, bossa nova, and rock elements.
Matogrosso and Liminha kept recording together through the 1980s and 1990s.
Other songs like 'Amar Você (Segredo Do Meu Coração)' and 'Mar de Rosas (I Never Promissed You A Rose Garden)' show their range across Brazilian pop styles. The group reunited in 2004.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
