The Plimsouls formed in Los Angeles in 1978 with Peter Case on vocals and guitar, Lou Ramirez on bass, and Dave Paho on drums. They added guitarists Eddie Munoz and Billy Swan in 1980. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1981 on Elektra Records, featuring the song 'A Million Miles Away' which became their best-known track.
They followed up with 'Everywhere at Once' in 1983, which included songs like 'How Long Will It Take?' and 'Hush, Hush.' The band went through lineup changes during this period, with Munoz leaving in 1982 and Swan departing in 1983. After a break in the mid-1980s, they reunited in 1990 and released more albums including 'One Night in America' in 1993.
Peter Case left the band in 1993 to work on solo material. The Plimsouls continued with different members, putting out records like 'Beach House' in 1994 and 'Flip Your Wig' in 2018.
