The Pursuit of Happiness was a Canadian band that formed in 1980 around frontman Moe Berg. They built an early following playing at Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern and released their debut album 'Love Junk' in 1984. That record included 'I'm an Adult Now,' a song that became something of a generational marker for listeners in the mid-80s.
Their self-titled album from 1985 contained 'A Villa In Portugal,' a wistful track that got significant airplay. The band's output through the rest of the decade included albums like 'One Sided Story' and 'Blue Room,' which featured the song 'Not Even Close.' The original lineup, which included Dave Gilpin, Gordon Deppe, and Chris Murphy, lasted until around 1990.
After lineup changes, the group continued for a few more years before disbanding in 1995. They reunited in 2002 for some shows and have played sporadically since, releasing another album called 'Forever Now' in 2019.
