The Raves formed in 1986 with Nicky Tesco on vocals, Vince de la Cruz on guitar, Jeremy Healey on bass, and Paul Roberts on drums. Their debut album came out in 1989, and the single 'Alive' from that record got some attention with its straightforward energy and melodic punk feel.
They put out a few more albums in the 1990s like 'Second Skin' and 'Spiritualized,' and songs like 'California Winter' and 'Runaway' show the band working with a basic alternative rock sound. The group went on hiatus around 1999, and the members moved on to other things.
