Background notes

Archive material and source history

The Real Heat formed in New York City with J.R. Robinson on vocals, Randy Muller on keyboards, Rick Anderson on saxophone, William Boltz on bass, and Bill Mann on drums. They released their first album in 1975 and put out several more through the late 1970s, including 'Heat of the Moment' and 'Rhythm and Heat.'

Their track 'Come We Go' became their most recognizable song. It drew some accusations of plagiarism at the time, which the band denied, but the song's popularity held.

The group disbanded in the early 1980s. Their music, particularly 'Come We Go,' still gets played on R&B and soul stations.
