The Realness formed in Oakland in 2001 with vocalist Chantal Claret, keyboardist David Harvath, bassist Tad Robinson, guitarist Dwayne Thomas, and drummer Leon Taylor. Their debut album 'A Warning' came out in 2003, and the title track became one of their most recognizable songs.
In 2006, Thomas and Taylor left the band. Guitarist Alex Winker and drummer Sam Waddle joined around that time. A few years later, in 2009, the group got into a legal dispute with a record label over artistic control and exploitation claims.
Their catalog includes songs like 'Alive,' 'Black Label,' 'Confessional,' and 'Fight To Survive.'
