Background notes

Archive material and source history

The Rebeccas formed in Madrid in 2010 as an all-female ensemble. Their lineup originally included vocalist and guitarist María Becerra, along with Anabel López on cello, Sara González on violin, Lucía Pérez on piano, and Carmen García on bass guitar.

In 2011, they released the single "Te Amo," which became their most recognizable song. They followed with the EP "Sentimiento" in 2012 and albums "El Amor" in 2014, "Lazos" in 2016, and "Sueños" in 2018.

Their music combined folk, pop, and classical elements with intricate harmonies and lyrics about love and longing. Early in their career, some critics questioned their musical abilities, but the band continued performing and recording.
