The Rodeo Carburettor came out of the American South in the early 2000s with a raw, hard-driving sound that pulled from classic rock, punk, and southern rock. They were a quartet: Scott Thomas on vocals and guitar, Jake Thomas on bass, John "T-Bone" Thomas on drums, and Ted Stevens on guitar. Their debut album, "The Savage South," arrived in 2003 and featured the track "Speed of Flow," an anthem that caught on quickly.
That song, along with others like "Meaningful" and "Precious," defined their approach, a mix of melody and aggression that felt both immediate and unpolished. Their live shows were known for being aggressive, and their lyrics sometimes drew criticism from conservative groups, though the band didn't seem to mind pushing boundaries.
They put out a few more albums after that, including "Long Way Home" in 2005, "Jamboree" in 2007, and "Rhythm of the Road" in 2010. The records kept that same rough-edged, road-ready energy, even as the sound around them shifted.
