The Rumble Strips formed in 2002 with Leo Gault on vocals and guitar, Phil Winter on bass, Henry Wider on keyboards, and Matthew Wheeler on drums. They put out two albums, starting with 2006's 'Girls And Boys In Love,' which gave them their best-known song. A follow-up called 'Alarm Clock' came in 2008.
Their sound mixed indie rock with bits of ska and new wave, and their lyrics often had a satirical edge. Some critics found them too quirky, but songs like 'Alarm Clock' and 'Back Bone' kept a straightforward energy that worked on stage. The band broke up in 2010 after Gault was arrested for cocaine possession, which didn't help their momentum.
