The Seahorses formed in 1996 after John Squire left the Stone Roses. They released their debut album 'Do It Yourself' the following year, which included songs like 'Love Is The Law' and 'Happiness Is Eggshaped.' The band's sound had some of Squire's swirling guitar work from his previous group, but with a different vocal approach.
Their song 'Love Is The Law' drew some attention for its lyrics, though the band didn't last long enough for that to define them. They put out a second album called 'Under the Radar' in 1999 before breaking up. The lineup included Stuart Fletcher on bass, Andy Watts on drums, and Chris Helme on guitar and backing vocals alongside Squire.
After the Seahorses ended, the members went in different directions. Squire eventually rejoined the Stone Roses in 2011, while Helme worked with The Yards and on solo material. The band's catalog is brief but still gets played by people who remember that late-90s British guitar sound.
