The Seeds formed in Los Angeles in 1965 with Sky Saxon on vocals, Daryl Hooper on guitar, Rick Andridge on bass, and Danny Sutherland on drums. They played at places like the Whisky a Go Go on the Sunset Strip. Their debut single 'Can't Seem To Make You Mine' reached the Top 40 on the Billboard charts.
Between 1966 and 1970, they put out six studio albums including The Seeds, A Web of Sound, and Future. Saxon's unpredictable behavior and drug use sometimes caused problems within the band, and he faced legal issues including drug possession charges.
Other musicians like Mike Hudak, John Savage, and Cheetah Chrome played with the group at different times. Their sound had an effect on bands like The Doors and The Stooges.
