The Simps

The Simps were a late-1980s electronic group with Terry Farley, Pete Heller, and Paul Oakenfold handling DJ and production duties. Their debut single 'On Fye' from 1988 became an acid house touchstone, helping define that era's sound.

They followed with tracks like 'Your Love,' 'The Whole of the Moon,' and 'Beat Dis' over the next few years. As the acid house wave receded, their work began incorporating techno and ambient textures on releases such as 1991's 'Sound of Eden.'

Their approach to sampling and synthesis left a clear imprint on the electronic music that came after them, though they never courted mainstream acceptance. The group's recordings from that period still turn up in DJ sets and playlists focused on early UK dance music.
