A rock band from Carteret that balanced classic hooks with Pat DiNizio's heavy-hearted songwriting.
For a quick sense of them, put on 'A Girl Like You' and 'Sensation.' That's the sound, big guitars, a little gloom, hooks that don't quit.
They carved out a space between classic rock and power pop that felt lived-in, not just retro. Songs like 'Sensation' and 'A Girl Like You' have that particular weight DiNizio brought, melodies you can hum, lyrics that stick. You still hear them on rock radio, and they fit right in.
They formed in Carteret in 1980 and put out their self-titled debut in 1986. The 1989 album 'Blue Period' gave them 'A Girl Like You' and 'Blood and Roses,' and they kept making records through the '90s. After DiNizio died in 2017, the band kept playing with Jim Babjak on vocals.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
