The Soundtrack of Our Lives formed in 1995 after Ebbot Lundberg's previous band Union Carbide Productions ended. They released their first album 'Welcome to the Infant Freebase' the following year. The band's sound drew from post-punk and alternative rock, with songs like 'Second Life Replay' and '21st Century Rip Off' showing their range from driving rock to more atmospheric tracks.

Ebbot Lundberg wrote most of the lyrics, which often dealt with introspection and darker themes. Their 2001 album 'Behind the Music' was well-received, and they followed it with the two-part 'Origin' series in 2002 and 2003.

The lineup changed over time, with bassist Ian Person leaving in 2005. They released 'Throw It to the Universe' that same year and 'Communion' in 2008. Songs like 'Believe I've Found' and 'Broken Imaginary Time' show the band's continued exploration of different textures within their rock foundation.
