The Tip Toppers came out of Chicago in the early 1990s, with Ethan "Rev" Rivers on vocals. Their song "Outsider" got them some attention, and they built a following with a raw sound that didn't fit neatly into one box.
They put out records like "Outsider Nation," "Static Age," and "The Unholy Trinity" through the 1990s and early 2000s. The band included guitarist Mark "Razor" Rodriguez, bassist Luke "Lucid" Johnson, and drummer Cory "Crash" Carter. They played with other punk acts, including X and Fugazi.
Their lyrics often dealt with feeling out of place, and their live shows had an aggressive edge that could stir things up. They stopped playing together in 2005.
