The Ugly Ducklings were a reggae band from Kingston, Jamaica. They formed in the early 1970s with members Barry Llewellyn, Lloyd Parkes, and Tony Davis. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1979.
Their songs like 'Daisy' and 'Everybody Come On' had a straightforward, melodic quality. The band kept recording through the 1980s, putting out albums such as 'Musical Weapon' and 'For the Good Times'.
Tony Davis died in a car accident in 1980. The group continued with Horace 'Stumpie' Martin joining on drums. They worked in a traditional reggae style without much fuss.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
