The Underpants formed in Salvador, Bahia in the late 1990s with Leo Jaime on vocals and guitar, Flavio Moura on bass, and Marcos Suzano on drums. Their debut album 'Uma Semana' went multi-platinum in Brazil, with the title track becoming an instant classic that still gets played.
Their sound mixed samba, reggae, and rock with lyrics that often touched on social issues. The band cited influences ranging from Bob Marley to Chico Buarque, which gave their music a particular Brazilian flavor while keeping it accessible.
Despite that, they kept recording and built a discography that spans more than a dozen albums.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
