The Vain came up in the early 1980s, around the time new wave was taking off. Their song 'The Rocket' got them noticed and became their calling card. The band was fronted by Rik The Rik, with Jake The Jake on bass and Skip The Skip on drums.
Their debut album was self-titled, and they followed it with records like 'Electric Nights' and 'Heart of Stone.' You can hear some of their other material on tracks like 'Aftershock Crisis' and 'Babylon Blvd.'
They had a reputation for putting on loud, theatrical shows. At one point, there was some trouble after a concert in London involving Rik The Rik and a guitar, which led to legal issues. The band kept going for a while after that, but the story tends to get wrapped up in that incident.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
