The Violet Burning is remembered for one song that became far bigger than the band itself: "I'm No Superman," which served as the theme for the TV show Scrubs. That track, from their 2001 self-titled debut, gave them a brief moment of mainstream recognition in the early 2000s.
Beyond that single, they released a couple more albums, including The Violet Burning II in 2005 and a compilation called Lessons Learned in 2012. Their other songs, like "There Is Nowhere Else" and "Aching," never reached the same level of cultural saturation.
The band's lineup included Davey Havok on vocals, Jade Puget on guitar, and Ryan Sinn on rhythm guitar. They eventually disbanded in 2016. Havok and Puget later formed the band AFI, while Sinn worked on solo material.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
