The Walking Blues Band formed somewhere in the American South, drawing from the region's blues traditions. Their lineup included frontman John "Blind Dog" Smith, guitarist Mike "Hurricane" Hammond, and bassist Mary "Mississippi" Jones.
Their song "Anger and Pain" became one of their better-known tracks, alongside others like "Keep my blues alive" and "The King of Sunset Town." They released albums including "From the Delta to the City," "Highway to Hell," and "Road to Redemption."
Some critics initially dismissed them as imitators, but they developed a following for their direct approach to the blues. Their music dealt with straightforward themes of personal struggle and social observation.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
