The Wants formed in London in 2014 with Madeleine Coles on vocals, Will Bundy on guitar, Matt Johnson on bass, and Johnny Miles on drums. They put out their debut EP 'Frozen' the following year.
In 2018 they released the album 'Fear My Society,' which included the track of the same name. That song seemed to connect with listeners in a different way, becoming something of an anthem. The band's sound has shifted over their releases, touching on post-punk and synthpop elements on later records like their 2021 self-titled album and the 2023 release also called 'Container.'
