Archive material and source history
The Waste of Effort was a band with Adam Noble on lead vocals and guitar, Adam Beckett on bass, and Chris Knight on drums. They released an EP called 'Abandoned Ship' in 2003, followed by a self-titled album in 2005 and 'Oceans of Sorrow' in 2008. Their song 'Abandoned Ship' became something of a signature track, with lyrics about drifting alone at sea that listeners connected to.
Their music tended toward darker, introspective themes, which some critics found too heavy but others appreciated for its directness. They played festivals and toured before disbanding in 2010. One of their songs, 'The Only Way Out,' appeared on the soundtrack for the film 'The Last Winter.'
Tracks like 'Blank Eyes' and 'Left Alone' from their catalog continue to find listeners who respond to that particular mood. The band didn't last long, but their recordings have stuck around.
