Archive material and source history

The Watanabes formed in Tokyo in the late 1990s, with Akira Watanabe on vocals, Hiroshi on guitar, Toshiro on bass, and Kenji on drums. Their debut single 'Hummingbird' came out in 2002 and became their most recognizable song.

In 2006, their third album was delayed during production. Two years later, a leaked private recording caused public backlash, which the band addressed with an apology. They kept recording through it, putting out albums like 'Phoenix Rising' in 2010 and 'Echoes of the Past' in 2013.
