Archive material and source history
The Welcome Home formed in Seattle in the early 2000s with Josh Kirby on vocals and guitar, Logan Davis on guitar, Jeff Raines on bass, and Chris Ream on drums. Their debut EP was called 'The Weight of Words.' In 2007 they released their first full-length album, 'Airplane and the Boy,' which included the song 'Airplane And The Boy.'
That album's lead single 'I Remember' got some attention, but the music video for it drew complaints from conservative groups for showing violence and drug use. MTV and some other outlets stopped playing it. The band kept making music anyway, putting out albums like 'Harbor' and 'Bright Side' that shifted between experimental sounds and more straightforward melodic rock.
Their lineup changed over time. Chris Ream left in 2009 and was replaced by Adam Smith on drums. Jeff Raines left in 2012, with Matt Lewis taking over on bass. They released four studio albums, two EPs, and various singles before winding down.
