The White Shoes are a London electro-pop band that started in 2008. Their first single "Forget To Live" got attention for its mix of airy vocals and danceable beats. The group includes Joe Hastings on vocals, Renée Heart on keyboards and vocals, Richard Larcombe on bass, and Tom Watson on drums.
They put out two albums. The first, 2009's Every Day Is Like the End of the World, leaned into dreamy pop with songs like "Gossip Girls." Their second album, Harden Up from 2012, took a more inward turn. A legal issue with their label around 2011 slowed things down for a while.
Their songs often circle around feelings of distance and connection. Tracks like "No Strings Atached" and "We Sure Are In For A Show" have that characteristic blend of electronic rhythm and detached vocal delivery. They've kept a fairly low profile since their second album.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
