The Willoughbys formed in Ridgecrest, California around 2009, with siblings Ethan and Aidan Willoughby teaming up with Josh Eppard and David Ryan Harris. They started playing local clubs, and Harris left the band in 2012. The group put out their debut EP in 2013, followed by a self-titled album in 2015.
That 2015 album included 'I Choose,' which became their most recognizable song. They've since released two more albums, 2018's 'City Lights' and 2021's 'Clouds.' Raji The Great joined on guitar and vocals in 2018.
Their music often gets described as indie rock with an emphasis on lyrics and harmonies. Beyond recording, they've been involved with social justice advocacy, performing at rallies and partnering with related organizations.
