The Wondermints formed in Los Angeles in 1991, with Patrick Carney, Seth Swirsky, and Danny Frankel as the initial lineup. Their debut album 'Bali' came out in 1995, featuring the title track that became a dance favorite. The record also included songs like 'Arnaldo Said' and 'Cellophane,' which helped build their following with a mix of rock, pop, and surf sounds.
Swirsky left in 1997, and the band brought in Ben Brodin on drums and Davey Brogan on bass. Frankel departed in 2003, replaced by David Suycott, while Jon Wurster and Mike Watt joined on drums and bass around 2001.
Later albums like 'Cloud Train' from 2004 and 'Interstate 5' from 2007 showed the group incorporating garage rock and blues elements. They kept recording into the 2010s, with 'Love Explosion' arriving in 2012 before the band wrapped up that same year.
