The Yeah You's formed in Los Angeles in the early 2000s with Nicci Kasper on vocals and guitar, Jeffrey Fribourg on bass, and Jake Blanton on drums. Their debut EP '15 Minutes' came out in 2003, and that title track became their calling card, a sharp little song about fame that felt both catchy and a bit weary.
They put out albums like 'Show Your Bones' in 2004 and 'Gold Tiger' in 2006, moving between indie rock and some lighter electronic touches. Kasper sometimes talked about dealing with depression, which gave their music an unvarnished quality that connected with people.
The band called it quits in 2011, but songs like '15 Minutes' and 'Getting Up With You' still turn up on playlists. They were never huge, but they made a few records that felt honest and held up.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
