They played a mix of punk, surf, pop, and garage rock that caught on quickly in the local scene. Their live shows were known for being loud and chaotic, with Rowden's guitar riffs and Dunn's vocals standing out.
In 1988, they put out their first album, 'Goodbye, Cruel World,' which included the song 'He's Sexy and 17.' That track got some radio stations to refuse to play it because of its lyrics, but it also became an underground hit for the band. They kept recording after that, with a second album called 'Curse of the Merry W.'
