Them Swoops formed in Los Angeles in 1974, with Bryan Gregory on vocals and guitar, Tommy Dean on bass, and Brad Kent on drums. They played clubs around the Sunset Strip for a few years before catching producer Kim Fowley's attention in 1977. Fowley helped them get a deal with Dangerhouse Records, which led to their debut EP in 1979.
That EP was called 'Too Fast For Love,' and the title track became their signature song. It was a fast, raw punk anthem that got played on underground radio.
They also recorded 'Rollerskate' and 'Work Around It,' which kept their sound in that same urgent, stripped-down lane. The lineup changed over time, but those early recordings from the late '70s are what people still talk about.
