Thenewno2 formed in London in 2003, with Theresa Wayman, Jamie Harding, and Matt Thomson making up the initial lineup. Their debut album 'One' came out in 2006 and included the song 'Give You Love,' which became one of their better-known tracks. The band's sound mixed alternative rock with electronic elements and dreamy synths.

Around 2010, the group had a public dispute with their record label over creative differences, which led to them leaving the label and taking a break from recording. They returned to release more music after that period, continuing to work with their established approach to songwriting and production.
