Theuxma formed in Montreal in 2016 around vocalist Emilie Nadeau and multi-instrumentalist Yannick St-Amand. They started playing small venues, working with a sound that mixed electronic and organic elements. Their first EP, 'Echoes of the Heart,' came out in 2018.
That EP's single 'Au Revoir' got some attention for its moody, atmospheric feel. The band put out two full-length albums after that: 'The Shadow Between' in 2020 and 'Fragments of Existence' in 2023. The lineup grew to include Etienne Dupuis on bass and Jean-François Dufour on drums.
Their music tends toward the atmospheric and introspective, built around Nadeau's vocals and layered arrangements. They've kept at it from their Montreal base, releasing records every few years without much fanfare about breaking boundaries or leaving marks.
