Thiago Garcia grew up in Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará, where he was around traditional Brazilian music from an early age. He joined his brother Wilson and cousin Arthur in 2007 to form Trio Nordestino, playing festivals and stages around Brazil.
In 2018 he started recording as a solo artist, releasing a self-titled album that included the song "Os Filhos da Candinha." That track became something of an anthem in forró circles, and another single called "Aumenta o Som" also got attention. His band includes family members Wilson and Arthur Garcia on backing vocals and guitar or bass, plus Danilo Garcia on drums and Pedro Henrique on percussion.
He put out a few more albums after that first one, like Thiago Garcia e Banda in 2019 and O Rei do Forró in 2020. There was some talk about a plagiarism issue with a song called "Arrependido" around 2019, but it didn't slow things down much. He kept recording and playing, mostly sticking with that upbeat, accordion-driven forró sound he came up with.
