This Is Massive

This Is Massive came together in the UK in the early 2000s with Ed Davis on vocals and electronics, Richard Norris handling synthesizers and programming, and Andy Spencer on bass and guitars. Their debut album 'Massive Attack' arrived in 2003, pulling together techno, house, and electro elements into something that caught attention beyond their local scene.

Their track 'Minimal DJ's Have Small Decks' became a kind of signature for them, a pointed jab at certain trends in electronic music that showed their willingness to stir things up. The song's title alone hinted at the confrontational streak that ran through much of their work, though they never seemed interested in being purely provocative for its own sake.

They put out three more albums after that first one: 'Storm' in 2006, 'Battle of the Sun' in 2011, and 'The Space Between' in 2016. Each record found them shifting their sound around while keeping that core electronic pulse intact, with Davis's vocals and lyrics often sitting right at the center of the mix.
