1983 one of the last days of December
Just after Christmas just before New Year's
Small town, we were bored, there was nothing to do
In the evening we got quite drunk and we stole a boat and went for a trip on the lake
And that was a bad idea
Two of us got in a fight, one went overboard and within seconds he was gone
You better stay away from me I'll drag you into crime
You better stay away from me I was broken in my prime
Don't believe a word I say I'm fake to the bone
Don't you rely on me you're better off alone
The next morning at the first break of day we went looking for him
But there was no clue of him
We didn't dare say anything
And with his parents gone for the holidays no one was missing him
A couple of days later winter really hit hard
And the lake was covered with a thick layer of ice
And a couple of months later when spring came and the ice melted away
There was still no sign of him
It was like he dissolved or had been eaten by some big fish
You better stay away from me I'll drag you into crime
You better stay away from me I was broken in my prime
Don't believe a word I say I'm fake to the bone
Don't you rely on me you're better off alone
Just try for once to be straight and tell it to my face
Would you believe in me?
Just try for once to be straight and tell it to my face
Would you believe in me?
You better stay away from me I'll drag you into crime
You better stay away from me I was broken in my prime
Don't believe a word I say I'm fake to the bone
Don't you rely on me you're better off alone
You better stay away from me I'll drag you into crime
You better stay away from me I was broken in my prime
Don't believe a word I say I'm fake to the bone
Don't you rely on me you're better off alone
