Archive material and source history
This Painted Red formed in 1995 as a British alternative rock quartet with singer-songwriter Ian Curtis, guitarist Adam Curtis, bassist Jack Parello, and drummer Dave Seward. They released their debut album "The Execution of All Things" in 1998, which brought them some early attention. Their third album "Let's Dance" came out in 2003 and included the song "The Floor It Fell From."
Ian Curtis wrote lyrics that tended toward emotional and introspective themes. The band received a Mercury Music Prize nomination for their second album "Versus Goliath" in 2000. Their existing catalog shows they worked with a mix of atmospheric textures and guitar-driven arrangements.
