This Town Needs Guns formed in Oxford, England around 2004, with Jon O'Brien on vocals and guitar, Tim Collis on guitar, Jamie Cooper on bass, and Chris Collis on drums. They put out some early EPs like 'A Girl, a Song, a Name' and 'Two Tongues' while touring regularly. In 2009, Tim Collis and Jamie Cooper left, and O'Brien and Chris Collis brought in guitarist Robert Pascoe and bassist Daniel O'Sullivan to keep going.
Their first full album came out in 2010, self-titled as 'This Town Needs Guns.' It got good notice for its detailed guitar work and personal lyrics. Songs like 'If I Sit Still, Maybe I'll Get Out of Here' and 'Baboon' showed their style, tight, melodic, and a bit restless. They followed with 'Animals' in 2012, '13.0.0.0.0' in 2014, and 'Discomfort Reimagined' in 2016, keeping a steady output of thoughtful alternative rock.
