From German pop sensation to solo work, his voice defined an era of European dance music.
For the full Modern Talking effect, start with "You're My Heart, You're My Soul." His solo track "Ready For Romance" shows how he carried that sound forward.
If you heard European radio in the mid-80s, you heard Thomas Anders. Modern Talking's "You're My Heart, You're My Soul" wasn't just a hit, it was everywhere, the kind of song that got stuck in heads from Berlin to Bangkok. That voice carried through the duo's run and into solo tracks like "Ready For Romance," keeping a certain synth-pop spirit alive even after the charts moved on.
Things clicked when he met producer Dieter Bohlen in 1984, forming Modern Talking. After their split in 1987, Anders recorded solo material including "Es Geht Mir Gut Heut Nacht." The duo reunited in 1998 for another five-year stretch before calling it quits again.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
